Thompson Law, PLLC becomes Thompson Law on July 1, continuing 46 years of estate and farm planning in the Grand Forks Region.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Thompson Law, PLLC, one of the region’s most established estate planning practices, will operate under a new name beginning July 1, 2026. The firm becomes Thompson Law, PLLC (“Thompson Law”) following a planned transition intended to ensure the practice remains strong and well-staffed for the families who have relied on it for generations.
Founded by Attorney Raymond J. German, the firm has served North Dakota and Minnesota families for more than 46 years, building particular depth in estate planning, trust administration, probate, Medicaid planning, asset protection, and farm and business succession planning.
Like Thompson Law, PLLC has helped many businesses through succession, this transition reflects a succession plan of its own. This merger ensures Thompson Law, PLLC’s client relationships, staff, and service model have a long-term home rather than an uncertain future. Existing estate plans, trusts, and client relationships remain unchanged, and the Grand Forks office continues operating with the same staff and services in place.
The transition is led by Clint Fischer, Managing Attorney of Thompson Law. Fischer is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys and grew up on a farm in eastern South Dakota. His rural experience informs a practice focused heavily on the realities facing farm and business families navigating succession and estate planning across generations. Thompson Law attorneys hold licenses in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska.
